NOTICE TO PARENTS OF OUR STUDENTS
AISD will be conducting exams
for students in grades 3-5. Exams are for children who would be
better served at a higher grade level. A school district
representative must also recommend that the student be
accelerated.
Registration Deadline:
April 30th by 3:30 p.m. or May 30th by 3:30 p.m.
Testing: June 3-5 or July 15-17

Mileage Club
Every Tues. & Thurs., join us after school, 3:15-3:45 p.m for Mileage Club! Last day of Mileage Club is May 6th.
Chess Club
Meets every Wednesday, rm. 9, 3:15- 4:20 p.m.
April 14th, last day of Chess Club.
Reading Literacy Library open every Tues. & Thursday from 1:30-3:15 p.m. in the school cafeteria. K-2 students may participate. Parents, check out books for children at home also! Literacy Library closes May 6th.

Message From Our Principal!
 Greetings Lil' Yotes, Our 2007-2008 motto is Anchoring Success in the Sea of Knowledge. Nautical symbols are used around the school to help keep us focused, motivated and confident that our goals will be achieved. The primary focus will be on providing each child with the tools and skills necessary to achieve their full potential. Academic emphasis in the core content areas of reading, language arts, science, social studies, and math will remain a priority. While Hillcrest has been a Recognized Campus for 4 years, We are most proud of our Commended status on 3rd and 4th grade TAKS tests: 3rd Gr. Reading 56%, math 54%, 4th Gr. Reading 32%, math 35%, and writing 24%. Our goal will be to continue this high level of performance and to surpass our rating at the end of the 2007-2008 school year! Hillcrest Elementary teachers are dedicated to doing their best and to ensure that each student has a motivating, safe and fun learning experience at Hillcrest Elementary School. So, all hands on deck, batten your hatches, hoist the mail sail, set your compasses and all aboard the USS Hillcrest for this year's voyage to the Sea of Success.
